Welcome
I am so pleased you visited
My name is Carol (she/her/they/them) and I am excited to showcase my portfolio.
I am the provincial lead for the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program at Nova Scotia Health. I have a passion for lifelong learning and applying my skills to help others. There is a lot of growth in this province in relation to violence prevention and it is very exciting to help develop an expanding program. Less than a year ago, there was one person doing this work. Now there are 12 and more to come.
I am also a student of Athabasca University for the Master of Health Studies program with a focus on Leadership.
Although created as a requirement for a course, I'm finding a portfolio's value goes beyond sharing typical resume skills and work experience. It is also valuable for curating and sharing resources related to my work and studies. In addition, it gives potential employers a deeper insight into who I am. You will see life experiences, values and beliefs, work ethic, and writing style. I've included some personal experiences with the healthcare system, because they have moulded me into who I am today. Some of my personality may even come through.
To learn a little more about me, here is the link to my first Masters assignment, which was introducing ourselves using a new platform. There are more details about my personal and work life in the "About Me" section.
